THE EXISTING INSTALLATION

The existing art installation by Johannes Gees in a school building in Zürich, was a playful way to help connect the 2 entrances at opposite sides of the building. After many years of operation the hardware started to fail.
So we decided to completely redo the hardware.

When a person entered the building and walked over the screen it would send a letter of one of the sentences displayed on the screens as morse code trough the led strips in the floor.
The Letter would then build up the same sentence at the opposite entrance’s screen.
This Interaction went both ways.

For this project I had to completely redo all the technology and keep the functionality the same.


I did:
– project management
– programming every single line of code
– ordering materials
– testing different products
– building all the hardware components
– installing them at the location
– wiring everything low to high voltage.
